During undergrad, I got really into religious imagery. It started in my art history classes. I started exploring how I could use those images to describe my world during my last semester of school, which culminated in my capstone show called βTranslating Divinityβ. You can see the results of that project here.
Right now, I am expanding upon that. I am taking established religious imagery and putting my own esoteric and surreal twist on it, exploring what these icons mean to me and how that differs from the mainstream.

I just finished a weaving with a 100% cotton warp and a patterned weft (acrylic for the teal pattern, cotton for the tabby). With this piece, I am examining textilesβ ability to make a space. This cloth is/creates a space of meditation. I could use it to wrap myself in or sit on, the piece being used in either way changes how I interact with my surroundings, almost encapsulating me in its borders.

I am starting to spend a lot more time outside as it is summertime. I have been birdwatching with my partner a lot and have earned a few bird calls that help me identify which bird is around. My favorite bird is the Northern Flicker.
